Macon County ends Flock camera funding
Macon County Commissioners voted unanimously on July 14 to stop all county funding for Flock license plate reader cameras and to terminate the contract as soon as possible. Twelve cameras under the Sheriff’s Office lost access as of July 21. Public comments focused on privacy and Fourth Amendment concerns. The system had been in place since 2024.

Hayesville sets rezoning public hearing
The Town of Hayesville Council has scheduled a public hearing for 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 10. The Planning and Zoning Board recommended rezoning a parcel owned by Jacky Jones from residential to commercial. Residents will have the opportunity to comment before any final decision.

Tri-County Racetrack racing tonight
