Cherokee Bonfire & Storytelling Tonight

The free Cherokee Bonfire and Storytelling takes place tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Old Acquani Expo Center in Cherokee. Local educators share Cherokee traditions and lifestyle. Families can roast marshmallows and enjoy social dances by the river. A relaxed outdoor evening in the northern part of our coverage area.

Free Live Music at Nantahala Outdoor Center

The Summer Music Series continues today at the Nantahala Outdoor Center near Bryson City. Liz Nance performs from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by Log Noggins from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and the Nantahala River provides the backdrop. Local bands offer rock, bluegrass, and more every weekend through the season.

Deep Creek Trails and Outdoor Time Near Bryson City

Deep Creek trails near Bryson City remain open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Easy family hikes reach waterfalls such as Tom Branch Falls, and the area is popular for summer tubing. No entrance fee as part of the national park. Pair a morning hike with the afternoon music at NOC for a full day outside.

Fightingtown Creek Nature Park Trails

Fightingtown Creek Nature Park near Blue Ridge offers free multi-use trails for hiking and mountain biking on roughly 190 acres. Multiple natural-surface loops range from beginner to intermediate. Parking and trail access are available off Cedar Valley Road. A solid Trail Spotlight Saturday option.
